Offshore Supply Vessel San Miguel Undergoes Maintenance and Repairs at Alameda Shipyard - Bay Ship & Yacht

Alameda, CA, April 6, 2009 -- Offshore Supply Vessel, San Miguel, returned to work mid-March delivering crucial supplies to drilling platforms and rigs after undergoing maintenance and repairs at Bay Ship & Yacht.

With a length of 190’ and width of 44 feet, the San Miguel repairs required a yard capable of dry-docking a boat of its size while also performing the intricate repairs to ABS certification standards. The owner, SEACOR Marine, LLC, selected Bay Ship & Yacht to perform the work, confident that Bay Ship’s 3000-long-ton Dry-dock capable of lifting vessels over 390 feet long, proven expertise in commercial vessel repairs, and their company-owned and operated propeller, fabrication, and paint service shops would provide the on-time, on-budget service SEACOR required.

Dry-docked in early-2009, the San Miguel underwent repairs and general maintenance including, Ultrasonic Test (UT) inspection; keel cooler repair; fabrication of an 15' x 8' foc’sle deck extension; inspection and repair of propeller shafts; sea valve and chain locker inspection and repair; and hull cleaning, prep, repair and paint.

Bay Ship & Yacht’s full-service fabrication shop designed, built and installed a 15' x 8' foc’sle deck extension, decked with 1/4" diamond plate, while their propeller experts removed and inspected the propeller shafts in Bay Ship & Yacht’s complete machine shop.

Concurrently, Bay Ship & Yacht’s master fabricators, certified welders, and expert painters and machinists executed the rest of the repairs and maintenance needed to complete the job – on time, on budget, and to ABS certifications.

Bay Ship & Yacht’s unique ability to provide a team approach for in-house experts to accomplish all facets of commercial vessel repair resulted in reduced downtime and increased attention to detail from stem to stern. This coupled with being the only California shipyard with a modern Syncrolift®, further cements Bay Ship & Yacht’s position as one of the west coast’s premiere shipyards providing a complete range of refit and repair services, expanded haul-out capacity, and unsurpassed customer service and satisfaction.
